Getting started as a US Law Firm

Set up your firm profile

Open →

Go to Settings after signing up. Enter your firm name, Bar number, state, address and billing preferences. This appears on all invoices and client communications.

Create your first matter

Open →

Go to Matters → New Matter. Enter client name, matter title, type (Litigation, Corporate, Estate Planning etc.), jurisdiction, opposing party and filing deadline.

Log billable time

Open →

On any matter, click Log Time. Enter date, description, hours and hourly rate. Klaro calculates the billable amount automatically. Use the Time tab to review all entries per matter.

Add tasks to matters

Open →

On any matter, go to the Tasks tab → Add Task. Assign to an attorney with a due date and priority. Overdue tasks appear in red on the dashboard.

Track deadlines and statute of limitations

Open →

When creating a matter, enter the Filing Deadline and Statute of Limitations dates. The dashboard surfaces matters with deadlines in the next 7 days automatically.

Monitor blockers

Open →

Go to Blockers → Add Blocker. A blocker is anything stopping a matter from progressing — missing documents, waiting on opposing counsel, pending court orders. Blockers escalate after 3 days.

Use Klaro Sentinel AI

Open →

Sentinel monitors all your matters in real time. It flags stalled matters, overdue tasks, statute of limitations risks and fee leakage. Go to Sentinel to see AI-generated firm health insights.

Manage documents

Open →

Go to Documents → Upload. Files are linked to matters. Use the search to find documents by content. All uploads are stored on US-based infrastructure.

Cross-firm collaboration

Open →

Klaro connects law firms and CPA firms working on the same client. Use the cross-firm feature to share matters, blockers and documents securely with partner firms.

View your dashboard

The Practice Dashboard shows active matters, revenue this month, upcoming deadlines and active blockers at a glance. Sentinel health score summarises your firm's overall status.

Getting started as a US CPA Firm

Set up your firm profile

Create a client matter

Go to Matters → New Matter. Select matter type (Tax, Audit, Advisory etc.), enter client details, deadlines and assigned accountant.

On any matter, click Log Time. Enter date, service description, hours and rate. Klaro calculates billable amounts and tracks totals per matter.

Track filing deadlines

Open →

Enter filing deadlines when creating matters. The dashboard highlights deadlines in the next 7 days. Red = overdue, amber = due soon.

Upload client documents to each matter. Files are stored on US-based infrastructure and searchable by content.

How do I invite team members?

Go to Settings → Team → Invite. Enter their email and assign a role. They receive an invite email to join your firm workspace on Klaro.

How does Klaro Sentinel work?

Sentinel is an AI layer that monitors all your matters in real time. It surfaces stalled matters, overdue tasks, statute of limitations risks and billing gaps. The health score summarises your firm's overall status.

What is a blocker?

A blocker is anything stopping a matter from progressing — missing documents, awaiting opposing counsel, pending court orders, or a dependent task at a partner firm. Blockers escalate automatically after 3 days of inactivity.

How does cross-firm collaboration work?

Klaro connects law firms and CPA firms working on the same client. You can share specific matters, documents and blockers with a partner firm securely. Each firm sees only what you choose to share.

Where is my data stored?

All US client data is stored on US-East infrastructure (AWS). Klaro is HIPAA-ready and SOC 2 in progress. No data leaves US jurisdiction.

Can I import from Clio or MyCase?

Yes. Klaro includes white-glove migration from Clio, MyCase, QuickBooks, and most other platforms. Contact us at us@klaro.services and we will handle the migration for you.

How do I report a bug or request a feature?

Use the feedback button in the app or email us@klaro.services. We respond within 24 hours.
